In a few more words
I am a freelance designer, 2D animator and motion graphics specialist based in Johannesburg, South Africa.
My interest lies mainly in motion design (After Effects is my playground!) – I love bringing things to life – but also in the rapid convergence happening between traditional media forms and the internet, it’s where the exciting stuff is happening! I also jump at the chance to do some illustration and have a soft spot for character design and 2D animation in particular.
WORK HISTORY:
I am currently building my freelance career in Johannesburg but most recently worked as the the Head of Creative for Monster Media South Africa in Pretoria, the brand new South African branch of Monster Media – a comapany that has developed an exciting interactive, out-of-home advertising platform.
Before that I freelanced in London as a Motion Graphics & Digital Designer at the following places – Holst Digital, Spike, Elvis & Dave – doing everything from editing showreels to co-directing green screen shoots.
While in London, I spent time at Holst Digital, a small but exciting digital agency in the West End. I worked on a broad scope of projects ranging from Flash games & online video through to various microsite designs and online campaign pitches. Being a small team, I got to work on projects right from concepting & storyboarding through to design & final production.
Before arriving in London I worked at StudioZoo in Johannesburg, South Africa – one of the top production houses in the country which is responsible for all the on-air promotion for DStv, Africa’s largest satellite TV provider. It was a fast-paced environment where I designed and animated loads of title boards and broadcast elements for use in various on air promos. Check out some of the work here and in my current reel.
Before that I worked on various freelance projects while completing an honours degree in Design (BA Information Design) from the University of Pretoria.
